Djamel Sadok

Lead Researcher

Professeor Djamel H. Sadok received his PhD from the University of Kent in 1990. Next, he was a research fellow at UCL working on OSI security. He joined in 1993 a Universidade Federal de Pernambuco where he is currently a full professor and a Senior IEEE Member. He leads a very active research group in the area of computer communications with a long standing cooperation with Ericsson Research. His current interests include the study of cloud and 5G availability, Industry 4.0 and more specifically the study of human robot risk management, and energy management. Prof. Djamel H. Sadok holds a dozen industrial patents due to his focus on solution driven applied research.

PhD Research

Judith Kelner

Prof. Judith Kelner received her PhD from the Computing Laboratory at the University of Kent at Canterbury, the UK in 1993. She is a Full Professor at the Center of Informatics at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil since 1979. She currently teaches multimedia and interactive systems and applications, her research interests include virtual and augmented reality systems, advanced interfaces and Internet of Things. She is one of the co-founders of the Virtual Reality and Multimedia Research Group (GRVM). Currently, she leads the GRVM team as well as coordinates a number of research projects in the areas of multimedia systems, design of virtual and augmented reality applications, and smart communication devices.

Patricia Endo

Patricia Takako Endo received her PhD of Computer Science from the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) in 2014. She is a Professor at Universidade de Pernambuco (UPE), Brazil, a postdoctoral research fellow at Ithe rish Institute of Digital Business (dotLAB), Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland and a researcher at GPRT since 2009. Her research interests include cloud computing, fog computing, Internet of Things, system availability, and data analytics. Her articles have appeared in over 110 publications in the above research areas.

PhD Students

Daniel Bezerra

Daniel is a bachelor in Information Systems (2016) from University of Pernambuco (UPE) and obtained a Master degree in Computer Science (2019) from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Currently, is a PhD student of Computer Science at UFPE and taking part of the GPRT since 2016. He has experience with software development, working with web and mobile applications. His research interests includes cloud Computing, fog computing, Internet of Things, 5G, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.

Marrone Dantas

Graduated in Computer Science from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (2017). Has a master’s degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in machine learning with computer vision focusing on texture recognition. Developed research in the areas of pattern recognition, machine learning, computer vision and image processing. Currently PhD student at the Federal University of Pernambuco at the Informatics Center (Cin) with a focus on image processing and machine learning.

Carolina Cani

Cani is a Computer Science PhD student at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). She is currently a researcher and Product Designer at Grupo de Pesquisa em Redes e Telecomunicações (GPRT). Her fields of interest are human-computer interaction, human-robot interaction, smart environments interaction, and internet of things.

Guto Leoni

Is Bachelor in Information Systems (2016) from University of Pernambuco (UPE) and obtained a Master degree in Computer Science (2019) from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Currently, is a PhD student of Computer Science at UFPE and taking part of the GPRT since 2016. He has experience with software development, working with web and mobile applications. His research interests include cloud Computing, fog computing, Internet of Things, 5G, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.

Gibson Barbosa

Gibson B. N. Barbosa is a PhD student at the Federal University of Pernambuco. He has experience in computational intelligence, clustering analysis, integrated circuit through prototyping, FPGA, testing and verification of RTL systems. It has knowledge on computational security through the development of an IoT security system using Smart Cards. He works with robotics, computer network and Internet of Things.

Andrea Maria

Andrea Cavalcanti is a graduate Researcher at GPRT. She received her degree in Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil. During her graduation, she was an exchange student at the Technical University of Berlin, in Germany, where she also worked as an intern at Bosch Engineering. Currently, she is also a Computer Science PhD student at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco. She has experience with electronics projects’ design and prototype development and her research interests are in the following areas: computer networks, signal processing, energy efficiency, sensors, internet of things and IA.

Iago Silva

Iago R. R. Silva is a master in Computer Engineering from the University of Pernambuco (2019). He has experience in computational intelligence, pattern recognition, data mining, digital image processing, and medical image analysis with pattern recognition. He currently works with deep learning techniques applied to risk assessment in industrial environments.

Diego Bezerra

Diego Bezerra received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) and is currently an M.Sc. student in Applied Informatics at UFRPE. He has worked with machine learning, natural language processing, electronics, and currently works with computer networks. His current research interests are in computer networks, control theory, and the Internet of Things.

Leylane Ferreira

Leylane Ferreira is a master student of Computer Science at UFPE and a member of GPRT since 2018. Her current research interests include Cloud and Fog Computing and Optimization Algorithms.

João Monte

Master and Bachelor in Computer Engineering from the Centro de Informática (CIn), at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). He is interested in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), Middlewares, Distributed Systems, Software Engineering, and DevOps. He has experience with R&D projects, backend development, RESTful Web Services, Python, Relational/NoSQL databases, GIT, design patterns, algorithms and data structures, software design and architecture, and Linux environments.
